I was very surprised and happy with the quality of this head.  It is every bit as heavy and durable as the original White Mountain.  I was expecting a cheap aluminum product but this is heavy cast brass.  It runs very smoothly.  I am actually going to use this head on my primary machine because it is so nice and save the wear on my White Mountain gear head.  It was easy to modify to work with my original latch.
